Scarlett Johansson is an American actor and singer who was born in New york city, New York on the 22nd of November 1983. Her acting has earned an acclaim in a diverse spectrum of genres such as the genres of period drama, thrillers and action adventures. Johansson is the daughter of a film producer and an architect was raised within New York City. Hunter Her twin and Johansson both were the youngest of four kids. She began to develop an interest in acting from an early age. She began to audition for commercials around the age of seven. In order to improve her abilities, she went to at the Lee Strasberg Theatre Institute in Manhattan followed by at the Professional Children's School. In the age of eight, she appeared in a role with Ethan Hawke in the Off-Broadway production Sophistry when she was nine. At that age, she had her first film role in Rob Reiner's North (1994). Johansson was next seen on screen in Just Cause (1996), but it was Manny & Lo 1996 that provided her with a breakthrough. The film is about two orphaned girls who are wandering off. In the following film, she won the praise of critics for playing the role of a teenager who experienced an accident which made her look a bit swollen on screen in The Horse Whisperer (1998). She gained more attention for her performance in Ghost World (2001) as the self-deprecating outcast Rebecca. With the support from her parents, Smith found her first acting job at the age of six. She was the lead in a Dannon commercial for television. Much like many other new actresses, she decided to further develop her skills in the theater. She was involved in various USA projects as well as taking her first stage appearance in the company of Wildflower. She was educated at The Stonestreet Studios Conservatory of the New York University Tisch School of the Arts.
